Great Lakes United Great Lakes United is an organization who works together with grassroots environmental organizations, municipalities, unions and dedicated individuals to work for stronger water quality standards, zero discharge and other programs aimed at reducing the amount of toxic chemicals used and produced in the Great Lakes and St Lawrence River. Agreements to protect these bodies of water have contributed to global environmental policy. These successes are shared and furthered by the growth of a vocal and increasingly influential, environmental movement. Lake Massawippi North Hatley, (Hatley’s namesake) lies on Lake Massawippi in the Eastern Townships of Quebec. The Lake local tourism and residents have suffered tremendously from the discovery of Cyanobacteria in the water. The Lake Massawippi Water Protection Association is a lobby group that exists in an endeavor to preserve the quality of the Lake and its watershed. Our Global Community Hatley is a member of the Fair Labor Association (FLA), an initiative designed to complement international and national efforts to promote respect for labor rights. Members of the organisation have committed to a rigorous program of Workplace Standards implementation, monitoring and remediation in order to bring their manufacturing sites into compliance with FLA standards. In the past Hatley has donated to a number of organizations including: Camfed International / The Canadian Red Cross / Unicef / Kids and Horses Foundation
